For any architectural modeling program I recommend a minimum of an i7 with a discrete graphics card (discrete video is a must). Video memory of 2GB seems to be more than enough.
Do architecture students need graphics cards?
GPU: A dedicated graphics card is a must for architecture. Many architecture programs such as Rhino and Revit use GPU hardware acceleration to obtain the best performance results. We recommend a Nvidia or AMD Radeon card with at least 4 gb of VRAM.
Is graphics card important for architects?
A quality graphics card can help you speed up and improve your architectural workflow with its RAM memory. This is because as soon as you try to render your visualization, it will all be dedicated to that process.
Is 2GB graphics card enough for Revit?
It is enough to run Revit , Sketchup , Photoshop , Cad etc but it isn’t effecient. I would suggest an 840M with atleast 2GB of VRAM for the graphic card. For most users, a mid-range card (such as a Quadro P2200 or RTX 4000) will be more than powerful enough.
Are 2GB graphics cards worth it?
No, 2 GB definitely isn’t enough for modern games. It has been many years since high end graphics card had only 2 GB of memory. You can still play older games or most e-sports / online titles with that but for games with higher requirements it isn’t going to be enough.
Is i5 enough for architecture?
Core i5: The middle grade processor, and more commonly seen in most general laptops. It is pretty powerful, but could struggle if you have multiple programs open, that are all high demand. Core i3: Entry level, and probably not powerful enough to consider for an architecture student.
How much RAM do I need for architecture?
RAM Memory: 16 GB minimum (32 recommended) Internal Hard Drive: 1TB minimum; additional external hard drive recommended for data backup.
Is CPU or GPU more important for architecture?
A modern GPU offers far superior processing power and memory bandwidth for this task. It is tailored for processing tasks that comprise many parallel processes. It makes GPU rendering more efficient than CPU rendering.

Is 2GB graphics card enough for Sketchup?
We recommend any graphics card that fully supports OpenGL 1.5 or higher and has at least 64 MB of video memory. If you’re going to create large models, we recommend a graphics card with more than 64 MB of video memory.
Does AutoCAD use GPU?
Video Card (GPU)
For AutoCAD, the video card is what handles displaying the 2D and 3D models on the screen. … AutoCAD is also very light on VRAM usage, so there is no reason to pay out for a card with lots of VRAM for strictly AutoCAD use.
Is i5 enough for Revit?
i3 or i5 of any generation is sufficient with a graphic card of 2gb and ram of 4 to 8 gb. It is sufficient to run latest versions 2019 of all softwares like revit AutoCAD.
